DXdao sponsors Codeless Conduct Hackathon, looking to bring non-technical talent into DAOs and Web3

As the popularity of Web3 grows, the need for contributors is quickly extending past developers. Organizations are in need of a whole range of products and services, such as community engagement or crafting governance proposals or documentation. At the same time, there are more and more people coming into the ecosystem who lack technical skills that are looking for opportunities to contribute and get involved.

Codeless Conduct has recognized this and is hosting a codeless hackathon, the first of its kind, that aims to draw in the non-technical crowd. Getting them to hack on everything from memes to blog posts and videos. It is an opportunity for the community to benefit from the influx of new talent while educating newcomers about the requirements of being an active contributor.

The hackathon will run from 23 February to 11 March when the winners will be announced.

DXdao has seen the value of supporting this effort and has passed a $3k on-chain proposal to sponsor this event. We see this as a fun and exciting way to expose and educate more people to the unique governance system used by DXdao. We are also offering three exciting bounties. The full details are below.

DXdao was created in May of 2019 that develops, governs, and builds DeFi protocols and products. Decentralization is at the heart of DXdao’s operations and developments. DXdao prides itself as being a transparent organization where decisions are made through governance. Unlike many “DAOs” DXdao’s treasury is not in a multi-sig, but can only be moved by on-chain proposals. We make decisions as a collective without a central authority. In order to further this goal, we put all strategy and budget decisions to an on-chain vote.

Our unique governance is what sets us apart from other DAOs. For this reason we want to see what unique ways the codeless hackers out there can showcase DXdao and our products!

Bounty # 1: Create a series of DXdao “Real Governance” Memes

Prize Bounty: $350

DXdao prides itself as being a transparent organization where decisions are made through governance. Unlike many “DAOs” DXdao’s treasury is not in a multi-sig, but can only be moved by on-chain proposals. This bounty would launch a series of memes that would convey the “Real Governance” of DXdao as opposed to other DAOs that engage in less transparent governance that relies on trusted parties.

Submission requirements:

To win this bounty, participants must submit at least 15 memes that are related to DXdao governance. They should feature the DXdao logo or one of the DXdao products and be relatable to the crypto Twitter audience.

Judging Criteria:

Judging will be based upon:

  • Displaying an understanding and familiarity with DXdao governance
  • Virality and potential for meme to spread
  • Humor

Bounty # 2: Tokenomics Proposal for Swapr (or other tokens)

Prize Bounty: $500

Swapr is a multi-chain AMM with more than $200m annualized volume since its launch in 2020. The SWPR governance token was launched in September of last year in the first air drop on Arbitrum. After an initial farming and distribution period, the community is discussing a new tokenomics plan, but have yet to finalize any specifics yet. This bounty is intended to crowdsource ideas on what this model could look like.

Submission requirements:

Winning entries must be a 2–3 page tokenomics proposal that incorporates three key components:

  • veCRV-style where tokens are locked up for an extended time
  • Governance can determine where the protocol fee goes
  • Can operate seamlessly on multiple chains

Judging Criteria:

Judging will be based upon:

  • Level of detail and specifics on tokenomics structure
  • How much the plan incorporates Swapr’s existing structure
  • Feasibility of implementation

Bounty # 3: Video Explainer for Holographic Consensus, Reputation systems, DXdao’s multichain bases, or ENS video

Prize Bounty: $1,000

DXdao has several innovative governance aspects that could use their own explainer video. The topics:

  • Holographic Consensus
  • Reputation-based governance
  • DXdao’s multichain bases
  • Governance 2.0

This bounty is intended to create a video that explains holographic consensus in a clear and concise manner. Winning entries must be a video of at least one minute long. The topics to create the video about are:

Holographic consensus is a key governance tool DXdao employs to manage its quorum and process proposals efficiently. It uses token staking and a mini prediction market to determine what proposals should be before voters. This is a very unique governance system that is not used by other DAOs, who often struggle with quorum management or minimum threshold for proposal submissions (with holographic consensus, anyone can submit a proposal).

Reputation-based governance

DXdao’s multichain bases:

Governance 2.0:

Submission requirements:

  • Winning entries must be a video of at least one minute long that:
  • Explains the item in detail
  • Contrasts it with other governance systems
  • Use DXdao governance as an example

Judging Criteria:

  • Judging will be based upon:
  • Understanding of DXdao governance
  • Design and style of the video
